Lucy Trimnell has lived in Bruton for 12 years with her husband, who is a Royal Navy reservist after a 32 year career in the Royal Navy, and three children, the eldest of whom is a doctor, one is at university and the youngest is completing A levels.
Lucy joined the Royal Navy in 1991 aged 18 and served for 5 years as an Aircraft Engineering Mechanic at RNAS Osprey working on 702 and 815 squadrons as well as in engineering workshops and security.
Lucy left the RN in 1997 and began studying for a science degree with the Open University which she did alongside raising children and working in a variety of roles from primary education to teaching apprentices at Yeovil College. Prior to election to Somerset Council Lucy led Maths Intervention at a Somerset secondary school for ten years.
Lucy became a District councillor in 2019 and was elected to Somerset Council in May 2022 where she is Opposition Lead for Public Health, Equality and Diversity. In October Lucy was selected to stand as the Conservative candidate for the newly-formed Frome and East Somerset constituency in the next general election.
Lucy is an avid book reader and loves gardening although there’s very little spare time these days!
